Bukit Panjang Community Club Dragon & Lion Dance Troupe

In the year 1999, with the support from Stamford Dragon and Lion Dance Troupe, Bukit Panjang Community Club Dragon and Lion Dance Troupe was set up in Bukit Panjang Community Club. In its first year of inception, the troupe's lion dance team managed to clinch the 1st position in the National (West Zone) Lion Dance (Traditional) Competition. In the same year, the troupe's dragon dance team also made its mark in the Finals of the National Luminous Dragon Dance Competition - it had won the 7th position. Two years later, in 2001, it became the 3rd runner up in the same competition.

In 2002, the troupe was invited by the Singapore Wushu Federation to represent Singapore in the China's "Qin Hwang" Island International Acrobatic Dragon Dance Competition. The troupe did the country proud by being the

champion in this competition. It was also an honour to be the first local troupe to win such a title in such international acrobatic dragon dance competitions. In addition, the troupe had also represented Singapore Peoples' Association in Japan's Osaka Midosuji Parade.

A year later, in 2003, the troupe's very own combined ladies' and children's dragon dance team got themselves the 6th position in the National Luminous Dragon Dance Competition.
